For swimming choose among two nice beaches, Niborio and Paraporti, or in short distance, by Stenies, Gialia and Piso Gialia. By Niborio beach you can find everything: accommodation, restaurants and tavernas, entertainment.
In Hora main street a blooming market with every kind of shops will satisfy every visitor. Try the old or modern coffee-shops and pastry-shops, to taste traditional amygdalota and kaltsounia, which are famous everywhere.
You will never forget your walks through Kato Kastro with the Venetian houses, Afanis Naftis (Unknown Sailor) square and the Venetian castle (Mesa Kastro).

But what makes Hora special are its museums. Nice and functional Archeological Museum, internationally known Museum of Modern Art, Naval Museum, the Museum of Traditional Crafts and Byzantine Icons, which is housed in the old ice factory. Additionally, there is Kaireios Library, with a wealth of old and modern books and every kind of cultural activities and Kydonieos Foundation organizing many cultural events. It was founded in 1994 by Petros and Marika Kydonieos, with the aim to present and promote culture and art in their broad and multilateral form. Its main interests are plastic arts, music, theater, literature, etc. In 1995, "Ploes" art activities was established and every summer there are painting exhibitions of painters who have contributed in the formulation of modern artistic expressions. |
